Honoring an American Hero, John Glenn

On February 20, 2012 The Ohio State University celebrated John Glenn’s legacy
on the 50th anniversary of his historic flight aboard Friendship 7. This magical
event, benefitting the John Glenn School of Public Affairs and the College of
Engineering, honored an American Hero with grace and grandeur.

Bartha was a proud partner in the creation and execution of this extraordinary
evening. Our creative team, using innovative projection technology, was able
to literally surround the guests with High Definition video and sound. Live
performers, a class of third and fourth graders, took the audience back to that
day in 1962 when they witnessed Glenn’s historic flight. Lighting and sound
recreated the sheer power of the launch.

The story of Glenn’s Mercury Mission, his hero’s welcome, and his return to
space at age 77 was told with rare archival film footage and thousands of images
from the OSU archives and NASA. Bartha’s production team wove all this into an
emotional, captivating celebration of John Glenn’s legacy.
